Species Guide
Species overview: Species represent the various beings found throughout the world. From the humble Human to the ocean dwelling Fishmen, to the sky striding Skypiean, Species cover, mostly, them all. Each Species comes with its own set of Characteristics for being a part of that Species and providing every Species a unique feeling in how they survive and thrive within the world. Below is a list of some Mechanical stipulations for all Species, followed by the Species lists themselves:
Species Stipulations: All Characters must be from at least one Species found within the playable Species List. Should a Character be from multiple Species then they may have physical traits from any or all the Species they are from, however they may only receive the Characteristics from one of the Species they are from. The only exception to this is the Lineage Factor “Hybrid”, the stipulations of such a Lineage Factor are listed in it proper later in this guide.
Species Characteristics: All Species have Characteristics that grant Characters from that Species different abilities related to the physiology of their Species in some way. Species Characteristics are denoted underneath the Species Descriptions, and unless stated otherwise in the Description of a Species or a Characteristic, all Species Characteristics are gained by Characters who are of that Species.
Species Types: There are two categories of Species, Player Species and Adversary Species. The main difference is that Player Species are designed to be utilized by both Adversaries and Player Characters, while the Adversary Species are designed to be utilized by only Adversaries.
Playable Species List
Species Name: Humans
Base Health Value: 100
Species Description: Are numerous and come in all shape and sizes, as shown by several of the tribes found throughout the world. The most flexible of the races, able to suit almost any role and often are the ones who shape the destiny of the world in one way or another. Humans gain the following Characteristics:
Characteristic Name: Diverse
Effect: Humans may select up to 3 Traits at Character Creation, rather than the 2 normally allowed.
Characteristic Name: Tribes
Effect: Humans come in a variety of different shapes and sizes in the world, and various tribes have formed based on the genetically diverse traits. Humans must select one of the following Tribes listed below:
Characteristic Name: Common Human
Effect: Run of the mill human, and the most populace species in the world. Humans with this Tribe gain +10 Technique Points at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Snake Neck Tribe
Effect: Humans whose necks are long and snake-like, and tend to have slimmer, more lithe bodies than Common Humans. Humans with this Tribe Receive 1 Attribute Point that only be Spent in Finesse at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Long Arm Tribe
Effect: Humans who have long, double jointed arms, granting them incredible reach when compared to most Common Humans. Humans with this Tribe receive 1 Attribute Point that can only be spent in Strength at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Long Leg Tribe
Effect: Humans who have exceptionally long legs, granting them heights that outmatch many Common Humans. Humans with this Tribe receive 1 Attribute Point that can only be spent in Agility at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Three Eyed Tribe
Effect: Humans who have a third eye on their forehead, this eye supposedly allows them to hear the voice of all things. Humans with this Tribe receive 1 Attribute Point that can only be spent in Willpower at Character Creation. Additionally, Humans with this Tribe typically possess the Voice of all Things Perk, however they do not have to.
Species Name: Automata
Base Health Value: 100
Species Description: Automata are completely artificial creations, made with some sort of purpose in mind. While most commonly robots, clones and other such artificial creations could be considered a part of this “species”. While this Species doesn’t have much in the way of common aspects with each other, that is what makes these creations Categorized as a species in the first place, their customization. To that end this Species is the quintessential wild card in the world, and a wide variety of individuals can be created from this Species. Automata gain the following Characteristics:
Characteristic Name: Automata Customization
Effect: Automata Possess 1 additional Specialized Equipment Slot equal to their Tier, to a maximum of 6. Example: A Tier 6 Automata would have 6 additional Specialized Equipment Slots.
Characteristic Name: Optimization
Effect: Automata gain 2 Attribute Points to spend in any Attribute at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Automata Offensive Retrofit
Effect: Automata increase their Melee/Ranged Physical/Mental Damage by +5.
Characteristic Name: Automata Defensive Retrofit
Effect: Automata increase their Physical/Mental Damage Resistance by +5%.
Characteristic Name: Incompatibility
Effect: Automata cannot gain the Cyborg Species by any means.
Characteristic Name: Automata Fuel Source
Effect: Automata pick a fuel source to power their bodies and enhance their abilities. The fuel source chosen is represented by the General Equipment Consumable Material (Example: Soda). The Fuel Source should be noted next to the Characters species, and should be chosen at Character Creation, but can be adjusted later with appropriate In Character reasoning.
Species Name: Fishman
Base Health Value: 125
Species Description: Fishmen are humanoid creatures who are a mixture of man and aquatic life. Fishmen share some similarities with humans in their overall body structure, but can grow to abnormal, yet not quite giant sizes. In addition, Fishmen mimic attributes of a single or multiple aquatic life in their appearances, from octopus’ arms to shark teeth, to large fins, Fishmen are as varied as the ocean’s wildlife. In addition to their varied appearance, Fishmen sport superior Strength to many other Species, can breathe underwater, and are typically practitioners of their own unique form of martial arts, known as Fishman Karate. Rarely, some fishmen are even known to be able to speak to aquatic life, just as their sister Species, the Merfolk can.
Characteristic Name: Ten Times Stronger
Effect: Fishmen receive +1 Attribute Point that may only be spent in the Strength Attribute at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Fishman Karate Masters
Effect: One of the Fishman’s Fighting Styles may be Fishman Karate.
Characteristic Name: Underwater Aptitude
Effect: Fishmen receive +1 Agility Attribute Buff and +10 Physical/Mental Melee/Ranged Damage with Techniques from the Fishman Karate Fighting Style while submerged in water in a watery environment, such as the ocean, a lake, a river, etc.
Characteristic Name: Gills
Effect: Fishmen possess the ability to breathe normally while underwater.
Characteristic Name: Aquatic Voice
Effect: Though rare, some Fishmen possess the ability to communicate with certain or a group of aquatic life such as whales, sharks, fish, etc. This Species Characteristic is optional.
Species Name: Merfolk
Base Health Value: 125
Species Description: Merfolk are similar to their sister Species the Fishmen. Merfolk are a mixture between Aquatic life and more so humans when compared to their Fishman counterparts. Merfolk differ from fishman in that many simply sport an aquatic tail in place of their legs, though some many show other features of aquatic life on other parts of their bodies as well. While Fishmen are renowned for their strength Merfolk are renowned for their speed, especially so when in water. Additionally, Merfolk possess their own form of Fishman Karate called Merman Combat.
Characteristic Name: The Fastest Swimmers
Effect: Merfolk receive +1 Attribute Point that may only be spent in the Agility Attribute at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Merman Combat Masters
Effect: One of the Merman’s Fighting Styles may be Merman Combat.
Characteristic Name: Underwater Aptitude
Effect: Merfolk receive +1 Agility Attribute Buff and +10 Physical/Mental Melee/Ranged Damage with Techniques from the Merman Combat Fighting Style while submerged in water in a watery environment, such as the ocean, a lake, a river, etc.
Characteristic Name: Gills
Effect: Merfolk possess the ability to breathe normally while Underwater.
Characteristic Name: Aquatic Chorus
Effect: All Merfolk possess the ability to communicate with fish, and more rarely other aquatic life such as whales, sharks, octopus, etc.
Species Name: Mink
Base Health Value: 125
Species Description: Natives to the land of Zou, the Mink’s are a anthropomorphic mammalian race who pride themselves on warrior ideals, and a rich culture. To be a Mink is to be a part of a tribe regardless of your location in the World, connected by one undeniable aspect, Electro. Only a Mink may utilize this fighting style, and no matter their shape nor size all true Minks can utilize Electro. Speaking of shapes and sizes, Mink’s come in a wide variety of animal hybrids, and thus vary widely in terms of their specializations. In addition, Minks may, on a full moon enter what is known as Sulong form, a powerful ghostly appearing form that affords them greater strength but drains their vitality.
Characteristic Name: Animalistic Physiology
Effect: Minks receive +1 Attribute Point that may be spent in any Attribute at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Electro Masters
Effect: One of the Mink’s Fighting Styles may be Electro. Only Minks may make use of Electro.
Characteristic Name: Natural Weapons
Effect: Many Minks are armed with fangs, claws, teeth, etc. that provide them with vicious natural weapons. Minks increase either their Physical/Mental Melee Damage by +5 or Physical/Mental Ranged Damage by +5, chosen at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Sulong Form
Effect: Mink’s enter a form called Sulong when exposed to a full moon, increasing their capabilities in exchange for their longevity. Mink’s may enter Sulong form once per Adventure/Combat Thread/Combat. While in Sulong form a Mink increases their Physical/Mental Melee Damage by +10, their Physical/Mental Ranged Damage by +10, and Buff their Agility Attribute by +1 Point (or gain +1 Action point if Agility is at 10). While in Sulong form the Mink loses 5% Health every Round Sulong is Active, this loss of Health may not be recovered, nor negated by any Damage Resistance that is affecting the Mink during their usage of Sulong. Damage caused by Sulong form to a Mink may only be recovered after Sulong form is cancelled. Sulong may be left during any Round after the Round it was initiated. Sulong may be entered more than once using the Rumble Ball General Equipment.
Species Name: Skypiean
Base Health Value: 100
Species Description: Skypieans are a winged humanoid Species originally native to the moon, but traveled down to the world after a sustainable amount of resources dried up. Skypieans settled on three different seas, the Cloud Sea, the Cloud Cloud Sea, and the Blue Sea, forming into three tribes over time. The tribe known as the Skypieans settled on the Cloud Sea and tend to have a more modern culture, they tend to have straight feathered wings. The tribe known as the Shandorians settled on the Blue Sea and have a more tribal culture, they tend to have up feathered wings. The tribe known as the Birkans settled in the Cloud Cloud Sea and have a royal culture, they tend to have down feathered wings. All tribes of Skypiea can fly for short periods of time utilizing their wings. These wings also grant Skypieans higher levels of agility. Finally, all three tribes make use of the technology that originates from the cloud seas known as Dials, strange shell devices that can perform almost any function, from weaponry to appliances to even Walkman cassette tapes.
Characteristic Name: Skypiean Agility
Effect: Skypieans receive 2 Attribute Points that can only be spent in Agility at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Dial Mastery
Effect: Skypieans decrease the cost of all Dial Equipment by 25%. Additionally, Skypieans receive +1 Specialized Equipment Slot.
Characteristic Name: Skypiean Observation
Effect: Skypieans may Purchase the Observation Haki Novice, Observation Haki Expert, and Observation Haki Mastery for 0 Perk Points.
Species Name: Oni Tribe
Base Health Value: 125
Species Description: Originally believed to descend from Giants, Members of the Oni tribe are typically distinguished by one or two horns that protrude from the top of side of their head, though it can also be possible for a hidden horn to be present depending upon the individuals own genetic disposition. Though those of the Oni tribe in current times can be of human proportions, some can grow quite large by that same scale, leading to Oni, on average, being larger built than humans, though exceptions may be present in both. A race typically found in the new world, they are rare to encounter in paradise or the four blue but not impossible to find. Culturally, many Oni respect strength and martial capability over other forms of combat or negotiation, leading to a giant like warrior culture where the strong succeed and the weak are left behind.
Characteristic Name: Oni Physiology
Effect: Oni’s receive 1 Attribute Point that can only be spent in Strength at Character Creation; Additionally, Oni Also receive 1 Attribute Point that can only be spent in Endurance at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Oni Resilience
Effect: Oni increase their Base Physical/Mental Damage Resistance Cap by +10%, making their cap for both 60%.
Characteristic Name: Warrior Culture
Effect: All of the Oni’s Fighting Styles may select one additional Custom Fighting Style Aspect. They may still not have more than three Custom Aspects per Fighting Style. The same Fighting Style may not have the same Custom Aspect selected for it more than once. Additionally, Oni receive one additional Fighting Style.
Species Name: Lunarian
Base Health Value: 100
Species Description: Lunarians are said to have lived atop the Red Line, though their Species is of such ancient origin that only a few Scholars even know of that debate. Characterized by larger wings that protrude from their backs, Lunarians have the same bodily silhouette as humans and are potentially just as diverse. So, few still exist in the world that their true forms are unknown, and due to their ancient history, many could possess features from other Species in terms of appearance, except for the wings that they possess of course. Lunarians also possess the ability to produce fire from their bodies, which is useful for different daily activities, but more commonly used as a potent weapon against adversaries. Lunarians do not possess a distinct culture, instead those who remain find their ancient lineage grants them drive or aspirations towards personal goals or aspects of other cultures they grew up within, leading to the few lunarians in the world to have no one true culture, it being destroyed with their removal from the red line long ago.
Characteristic Name: Fire Manifestation
Effect: Lunarians may add a DoT Effect onto any Technique that is purely of the Damage Category, this does not change the Technique to be a Multiple Category Technique. The DoT Effect is equal to the unmodified level of the Technique itself, as per normal. If the Lunarian has taken the Enhanced Basic Ranged Attacks and/or the Enhanced Basic Melee Attacks Perk(s), then they may apply the DoT Effect onto their Basic Attacks as outlined in that perk in addition to another Effect.
Characteristic Name: Ancient Wisdom
Effect: Lunarians receive 1 Attribute Point that can be spent in any Attribute at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Lunarian Flight
Effect: Lunarians are capable of flight.
Characteristic Name: Lunarian Durability
Effect: Lunarians increase their Physical/Mental Damage Resistance by +5%.
Species Name: Buccaneer
Base Health Value: 125
Species Description: Buccaneers are a group of humanoids similar to humans, though tend to be larger then them their bodily structures mimicking that of giants in some respect. This is due to the Giants blood Buccaneers possess within them, giving them inhuman strength making them fierce warriors just like their ‘giant’ ancestors. However, their strength has caused many to try and enslave them as work horses, especially the celestial dragons whose horrific mortality is legendary. As such, Buccaneers are hunted many times by the World Government, specifically on the orders of a Celestial Dragon to act as their slaves for various stupid projects and wants, as such they have become adept at running away and few serve in the world government willingly.
Characteristic Name: Inhumane Strength
Effect: Buccaneers receive 2 Attribute Points that may be only be spent in Strength during Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Work Horses
Effect: Adept at carrying equipment and working the various lands, Buccaneers hold onto whatever they can. They receive +10 General Equipment Points and +1 Specialist Equipment Slot at Character Creation.
Characteristic Name: Prey of the Hunt
Effect: Being the prized target of Celestial Dragons, Buccaneers have learned to live swiftly and on the run. Every Buccaneer receives +5 Technique Points as Character Creation, but once their Buccaneer blood is discovered, if they are not serving in good standing within the World Government and could hide this fact, all Bounties they receive increase their total by 50%, because some jerk of a Celestial Dragon probably wants to own them, no matter how foolish a decision that is.
Species Name: Cyborg
Base Health Value: Same as Base Species
Species Description: Cyborgs refer to individuals who have replaced several parts of their naturally born bodies with machines or biological enhancements. Cyborgs thusly aren’t their own species per say, but rather originate from another species and share traits with said species of origin. Cyborgs can have any level of complexity, from merely a couple of modified parts to an almost complete physiological restructuring. While any individual could have a replacement limb or two, the difference between such simple prosthetics and one who has become a Cyborg is the level of enhancement the newly acquired parts offer. Cyborgs have offensive and defensive retrofits beyond simple functionality. Additionally, Cyborgs typically have further internal alterations that allow them to function on just one chosen fuel source.
Characteristic Name: Retroactive Retrofit
Effect: Cyborgs cannot be selected as a starting race normally, instead it is acquired through the purchase of the Cyborg Perk. Cyborgs cannot have the Automata Species.
Characteristic Name: Cyborg Customization
Effect: All Cyborgs receive +2 Specialized Equipment Slots.
Characteristic Name: Cyborg Offensive Retrofit
Effect: Cyborgs increase both their Melee/Ranged Physical/Mental Damage by +5.
Characteristic Name: Cyborg Defensive Retrofit
Effect: Cyborgs increase both their Physical/Mental Damage Resistance by +5%.
Characteristic Name: Cyborg Fuel
Effect: Cyborg pick a fuel source to power their bodies and enhance their abilities. The fuel source chosen is represented by the General Equipment Consumable Material (Example: Soda). The Fuel Source should be noted next to the Characters species, and should be chosen at Character Creation, but can be adjusted later with appropriate In Character reasoning.

Species Name: Dwarf
Base Health Value: 100
Species Description: Dwarves are tiny, often ignorant beings who possess monstrous strength and speed for their size. A rarity outside of their tribes and islands Dwarves are an uncommon sight to many in the world. Dwarves automatically gain the following Abilities when used as Adversaries in an Adventure:
Ability Name: Tontatta Strength
Ability Ranks: 1
Ability Restrictions: Equal and Above
Ability Effect: +5 Melee/Ranged Damage.
Ability Name: Tontatta Agility
Ability Ranks: 1
Ability Restrictions: Equal and Above
Ability Effect: +1 Reaction Point.
Ability Name: Tontatta Finesse

Species Name: Beasts
Base Health Value: 150
Species Description: Beasts make up all manner of animals that can range from pets to ferocious opponents. As a rule of thumb for what qualifies as a Beast, any creature that wouldn’t be considered ancient counts as a beast. Beasts automatically gain the following Abilities when used as Adversaries in an Adventure:

Ability Name: Beastly Cunning

Species Name: Giants
Base Health Value: 300
Species Description: Giants, legendary warriors and beings from the island of Elbath, their strength and warrior spirit is known and famed throughout the world. Giants are massive in scale, and typically fighting even one giant is a hassle for any being on the planet. Giants automatically gain the following Abilities when used as Adversaries in an Adventure:
Ability Name: Giants Strength
Ability Ranks: 1
Ability Restrictions: Equal and Above
Ability Effect: +10 Melee/Ranged Damage.
Ability Name: Giants Durability
Ability Ranks: 1
Ability Restrictions: Equal and Above

Ability Name: Giant’s Armaments

Species Name: Ancient Creatures
Base Health Value: 500
Species Description: Any Creature who is believed to be extinct or has existed since ancient times. This includes Dinosaurs, Dragons, Neptunian Sea Kings, etc. Ancient Creatures automatically gain the following Abilities when used as Adversaries in an Adventure:

Ability Effect: +10 Melee/Ranged Damage

Ability Effect: +10 Technique Points.
Lineage Factor
Lineage Factor Overview: The Lineage Factor is present within all living beings within the world, it is the blueprint of life itself. Lineage factor determines one’s origins, even if far away from who they perceive themselves to be. Many studies have been attempted to understand the truth of the Lineage Factor but only the surface is truly scratched as of this moment. Manipulation of the Lineage factor has created Artificial Devil Fruits, biological amalgamations, and altered several individuals within in the world. In terms of Characters, ones Lineage Factor provides a small but noticeable increase to a Characters capabilities, be it a natural inclination towards a certain Attribute, to being harder to put down in a fight. In essence the Lineage Factor is the Characters individual capabilities in opposition to how Species Characteristics are shared among the Species. Below are further rules on how Lineage Factors work.
Lineage Factor Rolls: Every Character may perform 2 Lineage Factor Rolls within the Lineage Factor board in Character Creation. Therse rolls are free, and you may select one of the two Lineage Factors you rolled to apply to the Character, noted in the thread Lineage Factor Choice. You may spend Berries to re-roll the Lineage Factor for your Character should you wish, the cost for which is 100,000 Berries, and each expenditure allots 2 rolls. You may re-roll repeats during the same rolling process, so if you really want to drop 1,000,000 to have better genes you could.
Lineage Factor Limits: Every Character possesses one Lineage Factor, rolled for as described above. The only exception to this is the Chimera Trait which allows for 3 Lineage Factors.
Lineage Factor Name: Divergent Factor
Benefits: +1 Attribute Point that may be spent in any Attribute at Character Creation.
Description: The Characters Lineage has gifted them a small but noticeable advantage in a physical aspect.
Lineage Factor Name: Vigorous Lineage
Benefits: +75 Health Value
Description: The Characters Lineage grants them a body which healthier than the average individuals.
Lineage Factor Name: Prestigious Lineage
Benefits: +5 Technique Points, +1 Power Level 4 Technique.
Description: The Characters Lineage grants them insight into combative techniques.
Lineage Factor Name: Entrepreneur Lineage
Benefits: -25% (rounded up) on all monetary purchases, and +25% more Berries (rounded up) from Adventures and Treasures.
Description: The Characters heritage provides them unique insights into economic practices, be it a traditional family job or a genetic disposition.
Lineage Factor Name: Unlucky Lineage
Benefits: Once per Adventure/Combat the Character may choose to suffer from 1 negative common or rare effect they choose, if fighting NPC's or chosen by their opponent in PVP, if they do then for the rest of that Adventure/Combat they receive +1 Determination Point. This effect must occur during Combat to grant the Determination Point.
Description: The Character’s line is cursed with bad luck. While terrible things often befall them the Characters sheer determination in the face of it keeps them going, making them all the stronger for it.
Lineage Factor Name: Hybrid Lineage
Benefits: Gain one of the following Species Characteristics: Common Human, Gills, Work Horse, or Natural Weapons so long as the Character doesn't already possess one of those traits.
Description: The Characters Lineage has a long distance cousin from one of the other Species and a Characteristic from that Species has manifested within them. Such small vestiges of another Species provide the Character a unique advantage within the world.
Lineage Factor Name: Lost Lineage
Benefits: Once per Adventure/Combat, when the Character has 0 determination points left, when the Character would hit 0 HP, recover 50 HP at the end of the Round instead of dropping to 0.
Description: In times long forgotten, supposedly an ancient kingdom ruled the seas, to hail from such a conquered land would surely bring misery upon an individual, but just as the legacy of their Kingdom holds on desperately in the world, so to do those who embody it.
Lineage Factor Name: Warrior Lineage
Benefits: +2 Total Basic Attacks
Description: The Characters Lineage hails from proud warriors of the sea, fierce some fighters who fought insurmountable odds and came out victorious. Such individuals may always scrap with the best of them.
Lineage Factor Name: Infamous Lineage
Benefits: +25% exp, 1 Additional treasure roll per adventure, +25% more on bounty
Description: The Character’s lineage has infamy within the world, and their heritage awards them, Fame, Fortune, and attention both good and bad. One learns quickly when so much attention is drawn to them.
Lineage Factor Name: Martial Lineage
Benefits: +1 Fighting Style, the Character still has a maximum of 3 Fighting Styles.
Description: The Characters Heritage stems back to some ancient marital traditions, the Character can easily pick up on new methods of battle, or the traditional fighting style held by their ancestors has been passed down to them.
